About Us

ETH-PHARM is a community-led initiative founded by four like-minded individuals with a shared vision: to support newcomers, parents, and guardians as they transition and settle into a new country. We understand that moving to a new place comes with challenges, navigating unfamiliar systems, adjusting to a different culture, and building a sense of belonging.

Our mission is to bridge these gaps by providing practical guidance, emotional support, and access to vital resources that empower families during this critical period.

Our Approach

  • Mentorship
  • Educational programs
  • Community engagement

Through these approaches, we strive to create a welcoming environment where families can thrive, connect, and confidently integrate into their new communities.

At ETH-PHARM, we believe that no one should have to face these challenges alone. By fostering a strong support network and advocating for the needs of newcomers, we are dedicated to making the transition smoother and more empowering for every family we serve.

The inauguration of the Parent Empowerment Project

The inauguration of the Parent Empowerment Project was held on February 9, 2025, with the presence of various Ethiopian and Eritrean community members, cohort members, invited guests, and stakeholders, including representatives from The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) and the Toronto District School Board. The inauguration ceremony highlighted the following:

  • The project's goals and objectives.
  • The rationale behind this initiative and the expected outcomes.
  • Networking opportunities among participants, complemented by lunch and a traditional Habesha coffee ceremony.

Services

With the generous support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the mentorship of the The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO), ETH-PHARM is proud to offer a Parent Empowerment Program that focuses on strengthening parenting skills, cultural adaptation, and personal empowerment.

Workshops & Training Programs

We offer interactive workshops and training sessions designed to equip newcomers, parents, and guardians with essential skills and knowledge. Topics include navigating the education system, financial literacy, employment readiness, and cultural adaptation.

Mentorship & Guidance

Our mentorship program connects newcomers with experienced community members who provide one-on-one support, advice, and encouragement. Whether it’s career guidance, parenting in a new environment, or accessing local resources, our mentors help families build confidence and resilience.

Community Engagement & Networking

We create opportunities for newcomers to connect with others through community events, discussion forums, and peer support groups. These initiatives foster meaningful relationships, reduce isolation, and promote a sense of belonging.

This project is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
